8/20/10 Jeanne Slaten Here is an update from JR
Hi Guys,
So far this has been a roller coaster ride. But I think, we maybe finally
arriving at the unloading platform. This is a kind of goofy comparison but
that is the way it feels. After a week in the hospital and another week in
the rehab hospital, we were able to bring Jeanne home. Wheeee! Within twenty
four hours her pain was uncontrollable and her doctors told us to bring her
back to the first hospital. They ordered an x-ray and then a MRI. These
revealed a mass pressing on some nerves in her back. I thought it may be an
overlooked tool left behind but they assured me it wasn't. They operated on
her again the next morning. The mass revealed itself as a blood clot
pressing on nerves in her spine. Once the clot was removed the pain subsided
to a bearable level. After two more days of observation and regulating meds,
we were allowed to come home again. Wheeeee!
We are home now and Jeanne is feeling much better. We have to give her
antibiotics twice a day through an IV line. Denise (my daughter) and I feel
like real IV nurses. At this point, Jeanne feels pretty good and is
determined to recover on schedule. The motorcycle carrot is still dangling.
Wow, I feel much better. Wheeeeee!

8/2/2010 Jeanne Slaten
I received the following update on Jeanne Slaten.
Hi Guys,
Jeanne had extensive back surgery last Thursday. The two Dr's that
operated on her said that the seven hour procedure went well and that
they acheived the results they wanted. She will be on limited movement
restrictions for the next six weeks. After six months she will be allowed
to resume her normal activities. Jeanne's incentive is a new motorcycle in
the garage and her goal is to ride by the end of January. We should be
home by the middle of the week if she keeps improving.
Jeanne said to tell everyone hi and that she plans to make the
International in September. She also wants to thank everyone for the
thoughts, concerns and prayers before and during surgery. Don't quit now,
we still have a ways to go.
Thank all of you (y'all),
JR

8/17/09 GREAT NEWS!! JOFF IS GETTING MARRIED I received the following email from Joff
Greetings to All,
My new Stimulus Plan that I have been working hard of for the last few
months is a great one for me. No direction from Washington; no town hall
meetings; on government funding but lots of pay back. Ready for this? I AM
GETTING MARRIED. No date yet but I do have an "I will" and she has a ring.
Her name is Sally Jacob originally from the Detroit area now living in
Satsuma which is a small village about 10 mi from Palatka, graduate from
Wayne State, a 31 yr retiree from GM, Catholic, Florida Master Gardener, has
all of her teeth, can enunciate and doesn't like beer very much (I have to
work some on that). A blond, but does out distance me by a couple of grade
points. She has a Scottie dog which does like me and a African Gray Parrot
which doesn't. Bubba, my cat says that he will help me with that problem. I
know you will lover her too and welcome her into our family of friends.
As it stands now we plan to sell both of our homes and have found a place
around the corner from me which size wise is in between what we have now but
on the river. Lots of guest
accommodations.
I will keep you informed.
You can
pick yours selves of the
floor now.

and she looks great and is getting around great with her walker. 3/10/09 Subject: Re: Bill Ring
I received the following emails from Jacque' Ring about Bill
Ring. Please send cards and put him in your prayers.
Thank You, Cat (Sunshine lady)
Sorry we missed everyone at Brooksville. Bill
had been in the hospital for 18 days. He got home this past Saturday the
7th. He is doing fine. Just has to build his strength and stamina back
up. Hope to be seeing everyone before long.
Bill and Jacque' Ring
Bill had an intestinal problem that
required surgery. His system took a long time to recover from both the
problem and the effects and complications of surgery. Really too lengthy
to go into detail. He is home and building up his strength and stamina.
He went without food most of the time and lost some weight, but mostly
strength and stamina. Is on the road to recovery.
Jacque' Ring
