The Sunshine Statesmen "Co-Pilot Rodeo" was held at this rally.  In the interest of trying new things and getting more folks interested in being involved in the club and their GMC's our illustrious President ,Joff Filion, had been holding court at previous rallies going over this and that with the Ladies about proper driving techniques and points of interest when riding in the GMC.   Here and YOU though there were knitting that while time!!   He went over things such as how to prepare to leave a camp site, emergency procedures and what things you need to have on board "just in case".  His class has culminated with this "Rodeo" where the Ladies got the chance to put into practice all they have learned.

First there was a test on the coach and different problems associated with stowing the coach for travel and keeping them safe.  Joff gave instruction to the testers mainly I think stay out of the way and be safe! Just kidding, it was great and the guys had a blast putting the gals through their paces.   Joff conducted the written test checking out his coach   of which the one point he didn't think about was "put away the dogs"!  Then one at a time, the gals, put on their best Sunday helmets and headed for the course   (BTW, check out Pete Pappas GMC-RTS bus that came to the rally, a very nice machine,  The RTS was the next project for the original GMC design team after the GMC concept was refined and in production.   The Church's came in their Riatla as well-- we support club associate members who have moved on to other coaches)    So the gals lined up one at a time and were off on the test track.  , our course gave them a tight turn, steer ahead straight, stooping and properly turning (that means put on your turn signals!) then they went to the backing station, and THAT'S where the fun.  Hey, backing these things is not that easy and for folks that really don't do it much--  well, ya gotta give them credit.    line her up and give it a stab   Look out, someone could get hurt here    Is anyone hurt?  Do we need to call someone?      I think this cone could have "dain bramage"!  Joff, not sure if that one can be returned, may need to end up our mascot!    You know how people love to talk about bad things and never talk about the good in news -- so let me say the gals did a great job-- very deliberate       so they proved they can handle their own-- wait, does that me us guys can go read a book in the back????  The end results were tabulated by our crack safety team (can those words be used side by side!) The outcome was divulged at that nights dinner    Yes, Jim Bolicks very own Co-pilot Vivian took first honors.  Hey, we were all winners though   we all feel better knowing all of this.  Thanks Mr. Prez --  Thanks for your brilliant idea and the fun that went along with it.

The setting sun over the rally was particular nice that evening and I am sure everyone slept well.

Hope we'll see you at our next rally
