First rally of the 2009-10 Season

Lakeland

Our host for the kickoff of the season was Joff Filion with the help of many including his friend Sally what is starting out to be another fun and interesting Sunshine Statesmen 9th rally season.  Yes, we will have had 9 rallies ending when the heat cranks back up in May, the club has a winter rally schedule that sees many "snowbirds" flocking in.  With 15 coaches attending it was good to see everyone together again.  .  The park tried their best to group us together over on the far side of their lake   it's always great to be able to park together   Bob Heller got a great spot right on the lake only problem with that is you really need to heed the warnings on signs   Just don't leave your pet leashed up too near the shore!

The sites were very open with nice grassy areas, the coaches look great sitting under the trees   Ralph must have spent most of the summer waxing his rig-- looks great man   Joff and Sally made sure as usual no one went hungry -  the "pot luck" on Friday and the balance of the provided meals catered kept the group from starving in a big way:

Friday after dinner we made ice cream----- yes but in a very different way!  Sally set up each couple with our own ice cream maker -- a bag of mix and a big of ice.  How does that work, I'm not sure that Tom & Jerry started off this way but with the bag of mix inside the bag of ice, tossing them back and forth churned the mix up to actually make ice cream-- hey, it worked!              Yes, it made our desert but it also made for some good fun.

Saturday evening after dinner we showed the video provided by RV Buddies on last season's "Drag Race Rally".  If you would like to see it go to http://www.rvbuddiesonline.com and click on the "extreme RV" link.  After getting our motors revved up, Sally lead us to our own drag strip indoors where we raced 6 coaches in a high stakes race   Rolling the "big dice" the coaches ran 8 races   with drivers Tammy & Jim lead by Sally had some good clean fun while it rained outside .  Here are a few shots of the race :

Next year #4 will be banned!!  It won six races and tied one!!

Sunday morning at our sendoff breakfast Joff shows us his new balancing talent-- no, not really just someone had left their umbrella at the dinner the night before A great sendoff breakfast, the whole gang was there-- pretty unusual for an early Sunday morning

I feel everyone who made the rally will agree it was a great time for all, no breakdowns on the trip there we hope everything went well for everyone heading home.  The ladies craft    and men's tech session were held as usual with good attendance and fun.      Sorry men, I was too busy with the craft to take any pictures of you sitting around solving all the big problems!

The rain could not dampen our spirits so it looks like we're off and running on a new rally season for the Florida based GMC club.
