Our October Rally was held jointly with the Dixielanders October 6th - 9th at Uncle Freddie's KOA in Lake Park, GA. Approximately 7 - 8 coaches arrived on Wednesday. Check in was Thursday with approximately 25 coaches arriving throughout the day. Thursday evening was kicked off with fellowship hour followed by our traditional pot luck dinner where the clubs furnished delicious ham and attendees brought wonderful side dishes and desserts. Following dinner, a representative from the Valdosta Chamber of Commerce gave a presentation on sites and places of interest in the area. Friday morning we had a continental breakfast followed by a workshop by Ken Henderson. Some of the ladies went in to Hai Hira for the annual Honey Bee festival. Lunch was provided using leftover ham for sandwiches and other vegetables from the pot luck. Dinner Friday evening was catered and served at the tables by the campground which included lasagna, salad and garlic bread. Delicious desserts brought by the members topped off the dinner. Following dinner, many of the attendees stayed in the 'Camper's Den' (clubhouse) and played cards and the fun dice game 'left, right, center'. Saturday morning started off with a full-blown catered breakfast which included biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, ham, and grits....Gary and crew (the caterers) showed Cracker Barrel a thing or two on how to serve up some good breakfast grub and received high fives. A tech session was presented by John Richardson on the type of motor oil our coaches require. Others enjoyed the day going to flea markets and antique shops. After our afternoon fellowship hour, another catered dinner consisting of chicken, ribs, pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans and garlic bread was served. Another high five to Gary and crew for a delicious BBQ dinner. More desserts furnished by attendees finished off a great meal. Fun and fellowship followed again with card games and 'left, right, center' which has become a popular game at our rallies. After a continental breakfast on Sunday morning, everyone said their good byes and readied their coaches for the drive home. Weather was great except for a brief rain shower on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. |
