Brookesville 09
Cold as Florida can get!

There is a reason we live and play in Florida, I
don't know about you but I don't "do" cold! I don't dream of playing in
the snow and though many people have told me I really should give snow skiing a
try, I just can't get my hands around the notion. No, I'm a born and breed
Florida boy and thats where my interests lye. I'll tell ya though the
temps at the Brookesville rally dropped to 19 deg. at the rally which conjured
up thought of places well diggers work, I think all who made the rally will
agree we had a fantastic time.
Thanks for Dan & Cat Meyer for the awesome food,
Dan actually cooked eggs to order outside in the cold
, our own "short order cook! This rally is put on in Brookesville each
year so those that would like can attend the FMCA rally nearby and this rally
has become one of the anticipated high points of the rally season. Over
the years we have worked with the Sand Hill Boy Scout Ranch to put together a
pretty comfortable location for a rally so naturally we regard this as our own
special place. Today, we actually have a meeting hall with all the
amenities
and through the hard work of Pat Brewer seen here with a long time Sunshine
States Member
Frank Jenkins, we have a great place to hold this annual event. How many
clubs can call a venue "their own"?
Yes it was cold this weekend, one report put
Brookesville on the national news actually reporting the temperature where we
were on Friday night-- good to know the world is watching and putting us in
their thoughts but we were prepared, well pretty well. Just as coats may
now be optional in the "Oval Office" at the White House, a furnace is an
optional appliance here in Florida. There are only a few weeks that it
ever gets cold enough in the sunny south for a "fire monster" but this actually
was that weekend and the 200 amp power service we had at our fledgling park was
not enough. There were several coaches that seemingly got colder inside
than out! Not really but trying to sleep with no power in temps in the low
40's is not why we live here! Morning came as it always does and the hot
coffee and warm hearts brought everyone back to life and the rally was a huge
success even with the cold. Our Florida sun did it's thing so by 10AM all
of us did like the other reptiles here do, we looked for a flat rock to lay on
and soak up the heat from the sun!

Again, thanks to all who braved the weather and
made this rally all that it was, below are random pics taken during the weekend.
Enjoy those and next year if cold is in your bag of interests, you may just want
to make this rally. Good think it happens only once a season, one cold
rally was good for me. They say variety is the spice of life so OK, lets
shake a little of this stuff on our pancakes!
